How to unlock Your Vehicle
Modern electronic key fobs provide superior functionality and convenience when compared to manual keys. Batteries will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. If your Volvo keyfob works only intermittently, it could be that the battery is be failing and you'll have to replace it quickly.
Fortunately, there are simple steps that you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery at your own expense. Find a clean area to work on. Then, you can lay out all of the tools you need. Locate the battery hatch and ensure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver or coin or a similar tool to make the hatch to open. Then, carefully remove the battery out of its socket by lifting up on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.
Place the new battery into the socket after the previous one has been removed. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards and that all clips are secured. Then slide the cover back down and towards the key-ring loop until it is loose and slides off. Then, you can remove the cover to reveal the mechanical key blade, which is hidden inside. This can be used to unlock your car from the driver's seat when you've lost or damaged your key fob.
How to Start Your Vehicle
The majority of modern vehicles come with key fobs which can perform much more than just unlock or lock the doors. Install a new battery in its spot and put the fob back together.
Note: Older Volvos are powered by a different kind of battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have an average thickness of 7 tenths millimeters less than a CR2032 So you'll need to be extra careful when replacing your battery.
